Registro Internacional Boliviano de Buques (RIBB), is a Technical Agency dependent of the Defense Ministry that seeks the Fluvial, Lake and Maritime Navigation Policy of the country since 1975 (DL. No. 12684), consequent with its Exterior Policy to exert its right of use of the sea and its maritime condition in all the world seas, pursuant to the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea in its Articles 91 and 94, signed in Montego Bay, Jamaica, on December 10th of 1982, subscribed by Bolivia on November 27th of 1984 and ratified by Law of the Republic No. 1570 of July 12th 1994.
Therefore, according to a State Policy, the country decides to maintain a "OPEN" Vessel Registry, within a national strategy
Bolivia is a Flag State whose functions are supported by Articles 87, 90, 91 and 94 of the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS)

RIBB performs the role of Flag State on behalf of Bolivia in the maritime area and the waterway Paraguay - Parana
